Friday Meeting Post

The Forum Meeting write-up:

What happened - We made a presentation about our games and presented it to someone who was hosting the event. We talked about what we would do on the day and how we would market/show off our game. Our game "Horror's Below" seems like it would fit the event well, though we have certain parts that need to tone down due to the event being marketed as Family Friendly. We did our presentation and each talked about different sections on the games which we had worked on, for example Daniel talked about the coding sections, i talked about the development and design sections etc. We finished off out PowerPoint with a teaser trailer for the game made by our 3D model and artist, Gemma.

What we learned about the event - We learned that the event is going to how quite a lot of young people and children attending it, meaning that we might need to do more and make it more interactive. So we are going to create some more merch for the game as promotion, and give it out to people during the day. We're planning on having some masks, Keychains and maybe some Styrofoam or polystyrene pickaxes which people can carry throughout the day too.

Does anything need to change - The only thing we really need to change is the gore included in the game. We've had a specific scene in mind where you swing a pickaxe through the monsters neck/jaw, but due to the nature of the event, we will likely have to remove a lot of the blood and close ups of the scene. Or we might have to remove it entirely, we're unsure but going to ask more questions at a later date when we're further into development.

Reflect on the meeting - After having a while to reflect and talk about it with my team, we're glad we could have the meeting as it's better to know we have to make changes now, than rush to make them later. I will say i wish that some people on my team had talked a bit more during the presentation, and that we'd asked a few more questions since we still have some unanswered. Overall it was very informative to have, and hopefully we have an opportunity to talk again.
